Tasks

The tasks of the Human Rights Advisory Council cover all areas of the Ombudsman Board's preventive control activities.

  • The Human Rights Advisory Council has an important advisory function. The Advisory Council supports the Austrian Ombudsman Board and its commissions in deciding which priorities should be set in the preventive monitoring of places of detention.

  • The Human Rights Advisory Council also makes proposals for control standards. These are intended to ensure a standardised approach by the commissions. The Human Rights Advisory Council issues opinions on the scope and methodology of the commissions' work on the main areas of control visits.
