“To benefit from your experience“
In the framework of a UN project for the strengthening of Ombudsman institutions, the delegation of the Turkish Ombudsman institution visited the Austrian Ombudsman Board. Complaint proceeding, ex officio investigations or monitoring of institutions – the main aim is to benefit from the immense experience of the Austrian Ombudsman Board, Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç declared. After all, the Austrian Ombudsman Board is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The Turkish Ombudsman institution started their work in 2013 and this year they have already dealt with approximately 16.000 complaints.
Ombudsman Günther Kräuter, Secretary General of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), provided an overview of the tasks of the Austrian Ombudsman Board and stressed the importance of independence of Ombudsman institutions worldwide. During the study visit, the staff members of the Turkish Ombudsman institution also got to know the proceedings of the Austrian Ombudsman Board.
