The K. family from Carinthia find themselves subject to constant video surveillance by their neighbour. Their neighbour’s surveillance system not only films right up to the boundary of their own property, but also beyond it. However, this is prohibited. Furthermore, the neighbour uses a camera system that can be controlled via an app. This means the field of view can be adjusted at any time. The Data Protection Authority has raised objections to this. However, the Klagenfurt-Land District Administration is refusing to enforce the relevant decision.
On the ORF programme “Kärnten Heute”, Ombudsperson Gaby Schwarz voiced sharp criticism: “I call on the Klagenfurt-Land District Administration to fulfil its responsibilities and enforce the decision correctly.”
"I expect the authority not only to read the decision, but also to understand its meaning," said Ombudswoman Gaby Schwarz. (Photo: Ombudsman’s Office)
