Ombudsperson Gaby Schwarz to the case "Tax return from beyond the grave"

The relatives contacted the Austrian Ombudsman Board. "We investigated the matter. The cause of this mishap was an incorrect entry in the basic database, so that the tax authorities assumed an oversight. The error was acknowledged by the authority, but of course the penalty did not have to be paid.
