"Thank you for a labour-intensive and successful few months in the interests of the people!"

Ombudswoman Elisabeth Schwetz ends her term of office on 30 June 2025. She took over the office from Dr Walter Rosenkranz in the period that is now coming to an end and looks back with satisfaction: "The final seven months at the Austrian Ombudsman Board were an intensive but, in my view, very successful time in the service of the people in our country. Together with the excellent staff at the office, to whom I would like to express my special thanks at this point, we have succeeded in helping many people. I am very pleased about that."

Ms Schwetz considers the low-threshold access to the Austrian Ombudsman Board to be particularly important: "The consultation days in the provinces are also very well received. This direct contact was and is very important to me. I would like to thank all the people who have placed their trust in me! I am a friend of clear words. Thanks to my many years as a district governor, I know the viewpoint of the authorities, which has enabled me to categorise the cases brought to the Ombudsman Board and assess the prospects of success," says Elisabeth Schwetz, who will resume her work as district governor of Wels-Land.

"I would like to thank Federal Party Chairman Herbert Kickl and the Freedom Party for the trust they placed in me with my nomination as Ombudswoman. I am convinced that my designated successor, Dr Christoph Luisser, will also perform the honourable task of Ombudsman with great commitment and professional expertise," concluded Elisabeth Schwetz.
