Inspector-General of Taxation Mr. Ali Noroozi meets IOI Secretary General Günther Kräuter
On 15 March 2017 IOI Secretary General received Australian Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT) Mr. Ali Noroozi. Within the scope of his visit to an international conference on "Taxpayer Rights" at the Vienna University of Business and Economics, the Australian Inspector-General for Taxation seized the opportunity to meet with Günther Kräuter, Chairman of the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB) and Secretary-General of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).
The Sydney-based Office of the IGT exists since 2003. Initially set up to review systemic tax administration issues in Australia, its role was expanded in 2015 with a complaint handling mandate. Therefore, the principal topic of the meeting was an exchange of experiences regarding the complaint handling functions of both institutions, in particular regarding complaints concerning tax issues.
Mr. Noroozi was also very interested in the General Secretariat of the International Ombudsman Institute and in its role of connecting numerous Ombudsman institutions worldwide. Both Ombudsmen used this opportunity to learn from each other and get an in-depth insight into the work of one another.
