POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDENTS FROM VIENNA UNIVERSITY VISIT OMBUDSWOMAN STOISITS

December 7, 2011

Beginning December, Political Science students from the University of Vienna visited Ombudswoman Stoisits during an excursion to the Ombudsman Board. In the chapel room the lecturers Gerd Valchars and Anna Pultar together with their students and the Ombudswoman discussed the organization and tasks of the Board as well as a broad spectrum of additional political topics. A lively discussion developed from the many questions which the students directed towards the Ombudswoman.

The developments in the Ombudswoman’s perspective on legislation and on her activities as a politician were one of the topics. Also self-perception and the meaning of the political career for the function as an ombudsperson were discussed. The Ombudswoman described her political career as a positive influence on her performance as an ombudsperson. She attributed the popularity of the Board to the openness and accessibility of this institution.

Earlier, the group which was composed of the participants of the course “Austria’s political system and the EU” had visited the Parliament during the same excursion.
