Follow up: News about the argument that arose about a disabled ramp in Rottenmann
As already reported, an argument arose in Rottenmann about the erection of a ramp for disabled persons at the entrance of a shop. Though the town mayor did promise to take some measures, he still has not initiated the building permit procedures and has instead offered to the shop operators an alternative solution, discussed during two municipal council meetings. It is planned that a new entry should be built on the side alley and that in the process a ramp should be built on public property. It is now for the owner to decide what is to be done. The Municipality took into account the criticism on this matter from the Austrian Ombudsman Board and so did the District Commission of Liezen, which acknowledges the criticism by the Austrian Ombudsman Board on every point. Ombudswoman Gertrude Brinek criticises however that a decision on the building permit procedure has yet to be taken.
Follow up: a boulder becomes a stumbling block – still no good news for the injured complainant
The complainant, a lady who had stumbled over a boulder, placed in a bus stop area, is waiting in vain for damages form the Municipality of Vienna. In her Vienna Report the Austrian Ombudsman Board has identified the Municipality of Vienna as responsible for this accident (an obstacle had been actually placed on this spot). The Municipal Council of Vienna however declared that it would not admit any claim for damages. The Ombudswoman declares this decision to be an obvious case of maladministration.
Follow up: A building pit in Kottingbrunn was eventually filled up after three decades
The named building pit was filled up at the last moment and thereby made a substitute performance by the District Authority unnecessary. The damaged lower part of the fire-proof-wall of the complainant was - as she requested – plastered so that further workings on the wall can now be completed without hindrance. Ombudswoman Gertrude Brinek is happy that a long-standing grievance was finally remedied.
Follow up: Surrendering of land for public traffic area in Wiener Neustadt
The Municipality of Wiener Neustadt abandoned its plans to construct a traffic area and is about to return the land that the complainant had surrendered. The Municipal Council has taken several initial procedural steps, to reconvert public property into private property, which give room for hope, that the complainant will be satisfied.
