Visit of the Polish Human Rights Defender at the AOB

After an introduction to the mandate, the tasks and responsibilities of the Austrian Ombudsman Board and the International Ombudsman Institute, Dr. Bodnar showed particular interest in the work of the NPM, the right to health and the Austrian TV-format “Bürgeranwalt”, which is broadcast on public TV and presents selected cases to the broad public.

Dr. Bodnar also expressed his concerns about the recent political developments in Poland, which could pose a threat to the rule of law and the freedom of the media. On this occasion, Dr. Kräuter expressed the support of the AOB and the IOI for maintaining the independence and integrity of the Polish Human Rights Defender and emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation for the future.
